The Girl Who Saved The King Of Sweden, Jonas Jonasson
Rating: ♦♦♦♦♦
There are too many funny and wonderful quotes to be found in this novel by Jonas
Jonasson. The whole book grabbed me from the very first sentence.
I don’t want to ruin the plot, although at times it’s too ridiculous to be believed anyway! Suffice it to say, this was a winding rollercoaster of a read which kept its momentum to the very last line.
The character of Nombeko is written with the most parched dry wit I think I’ve ever read, so much so that I enjoyed that feeling of laughing out loud, all by myself in a crowded cafe.
Her interactions with those she meets along the way are both hilarious and real, and I waited with belief suspended to see what disaster would befall them next.
I can’t wait to read more by this author but thinking about it, I probably need a rest first!
